Step 2: Apply for Your Florida Real Estate License
📝 Step 2: Apply for Your Florida Real Estate License
Once you’ve decided to become a real estate professional in Florida, it’s time to make it official! To legally perform real estate services in the state, you must apply for your Florida Real Estate Sales Associate License through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
As a licensed sales associate, you’ll be able to work with clients in buying, selling, and renting properties — but always under the supervision of a licensed real estate broker. This is a requirement set by the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC).
🚀 When Should You Apply?
Good news! You don’t have to wait until you finish your 63-hour pre-licensing course to apply. In fact, we highly recommend applying early, while you’re still taking your course.
Why? Because the DBPR can take up to 30 days to process your application. By applying now, you’ll avoid delays and can schedule your state exam as soon as you’re ready.
📌 What You’ll Need:
-
A completed application submitted online via the DBPR website
-
Payment of the application fee
-
A background check (fingerprinting is required in the next step)
-
Personal information, including identification and social security number
⚠️ Important:
Before you can schedule your state exam, you’ll need to have your application approved and receive your Application Approval ID Number from the DBPR. So don’t wait — apply early and get ahead!
